We are seeking a candidate with a thorough and extensive knowledge of the health and group benefits profession and an awareness of trends influencing the future of public sector health care programs.To fulfill this role, this Senior Actuary will:
Participate in and assist with strategic planning for clients, including action planning, capitation rate development, medical management, disease and demand management program development Develop innovative rate setting methodologies Collect, analyze and interpret health care data Successfully conduct difficult rate negotiations between clients and HMOs Assist states in completion of any necessary federal waivers Work with teams that may span multiple geographic locations and specialties Act as mentor and leader to staff providing training and guidance Support efforts to aggressively market and expand our practice Maintain marketplace visibility through public speaking engagements and participation in social business functions
BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, finance or business ASA designation required, FSA designation preferred. Current or eventual membership in AAA required. 8+ years experience in identifying, designing, recommending and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care challenges, ideally in a consulting environment Superior analytical, strategic planning, communication and listening skills Excellent organizational and proven project management skills on large, complex projects Ability to manage, motivate and mentor more junior level staff
