Senior Life Consultant

The Tillinghast business of Towers Perrin provides global actuarial and management consulting to insurance and financial services companies and advises other companies on risk financing and self-insurance. We help clients with a broad range of business issues, including those related to mergers, acquisitions and restructuring; financial and regulatory reporting; risk, capital and value management; products, markets and distribution; and financial modeling software solutions.

Job Description:

The Life/Financial Services division of Tillinghast is currently seeking candidates for a Sr. Consultant position.

You will work on a variety of projects including some or all of the following: assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions by building financial models, setting assumptions and valuing synergies, working in our financial management practice on US GAAP accounting, embedded value, risk-based capital measures and other financial reporting, developing and pricing both life insurance and annuity products, assisting our distribution practice in valuing and optimizing sales performance and assisting clients with the implementation and/or other consulting needs of TAS, MoSes or related actuarial software applications.

Responsibilities include:


Working with a team of experts from both actuarial and management consulting backgrounds on client engagements to solve client problems
Managing client engagements-defining the scope, formulating the approach, and directing staff
Selling and delivering Life consulting services to both new and existing clients
Developing new business including: creating opportunities to discuss new business opportunities through networks; using client relationships to identify client needs (explicit/implicit) for new/additional sales; broadening potential client?s understanding of firm?s capabilities; formulating proposals demonstrating how the firm will address problems/issues identified; and presenting proposals to potential clients
Serving as the project manager on client engagements
Making a valued contribution to the intellectual capital development of the firm

Requirements:


Solid understanding of how the Life insurance industry operates (including product knowledge, regulatory requirements, accounting systems, etc.)
Successful completion FSA designation
8+ years work experience in an insurance company, financial services organization or consulting firm
Proven business development (internal/external) capability to sell projects to insurance/financial institutions or corporations
Expertise in at least one core service area (financial modeling, analysis/management, risk management embedded value, distribution, Asset Liability Management (ALM),Customer Value management (CVM) or Actuarial Software Implementation (Tillinghast Actuarial Software and MoSes)
Financial modeling experience including building financial models and analyzing experience to set assumptions (Tillinghast Actuarial Software and MoSes)
Project management experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think ?outside the box? and encourage new ideas and solutions
Ability to travel if required
