Produce end-user documentation including user guides and online help systems for hardware and software products. Perform task & audience analyses to develop document outlines and overall style. Research products by interviewing managers & engineers and thru hands-on experience with products. Write and edit drafts of documents using specialized software (such as Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat Distiller, and RoboHELP). Create & edit graphics using specialized software (such as Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Photo Editor). Manage documentation review cycles. Perform quality and usability tests on documents. Produce camera-ready documents for printing, or Web/CD-ready documents for online use and work with copy editor/proof-reader to maintain corporate standards. Work with counterparts in Europe and Asia to coordinate localization of documents. Maintain documentation standards set by departments, including writing style and common user interface of both print (hard-copy) and online documents. Contribute to development of documentation style guide, single-source database and department Intranet site. Contribute to definition of online help development process. Requires: Minimum Baccalaureate degree in Technical Writing or any major with evidene of successful completion of courses in technical communications and technical writing plus 5 years of experience. Background must have provided knowledge, skills and abilities in the use of all tools needed to perform the job duties of the offered position.
