To provide these services and solutions, IRI has to process and manage a large amount of varied data.
The IRI Analytic Research & Development group is responsible for defining, understanding and maintaining all of IRI's algorithms and methodologies. These algorithms and methodologies form the core of IRI?s intellectual capital. They are used to differentiate IRI from the competition. To be able to fulfill the IRI Analytic Research & Development charter, the group maintains a diverse, highly-talented group of individuals who are highly qualified and experienced in the areas of marketing science, probability and statistics, econometrics, forecasting, operations research, artificial intelligence, and/or mathematical programming.
A Consultant in Analytic Research & Development will partner with IRI client teams to help pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturing and retail clients. Identify and define business problems that can be addressed through data analysis by identifying the analytical/modeling solutions to address business problems. He or she is expected to use their knowledge to identify opportunities to improve the quality or to reduce the costs of IRI data collection and production processes or to introduce new services and, then, outline the solutions that enable IRI to capitalize on these opportunities. He or she is also expected to lead (or support, as appropriate) a research project team that evaluates alternative ways of enabling a solution ? providing detailed specifications for the best solution.
Specific examples of problems currently being addressed include the research and development of algorithms & methodologies for:
? Delivering insight into market/consumer responsiveness to marketing actions.
? Enable marketers to reach their customers by analyzing similarities and differences in consumer behavior.
? Understanding the relationships between products to enable better portfolio planning and streamline new product introductions.
? General demand forecasting and supply chain management.
? Data integration (data fusion) to enable us to use the data we have to accurately estimate sales information in areas for which we do not have direct coverage.
? Reducing time to client delivery
Candidates will have a strong background in at least two of the following:
? Statistical Methods including the General Linear Model, Multivariate analysis and Discrete choice models.
? CPG Marketing or a good understanding of the brand management process.
? Marketing Research methods
? Systems to access and manipulate large databases and integrate multiple data source.
*Required Experience:
? Masters in Applied Statistics, Econometrics or Marketing Science strongly preferred; M.S. with strong analytical background will be considered.
? 3+ years relevant experience with hands-on model building.
? Proficient with the following modeling methodologies: linear regression, multinomial logit regression, logistic regression and Bayesian.
? Proficiency in one or more statistical analysis packages (preferably SAS)
? Familiarity with clustering techniques, experimental design, multi-dimensional scaling, linear programming.
? Experience developing and managing a research plan.
? Experience with data-based decision making (either on client or supplier side)
? Excellent written and oral communications skills ? due to significant internal client interfaces.
