Laboratory Technician (Barrington, IL)

Seeking Lab Technician for major food company in Barrington, IL

Position Description:
Assist Product and/or Process Development Scientists with bench-top, pilot plant and plant development and commercialization of new products and quality/cost improvement of existing products.
-Provide assistance to multiple scientists on multiple projects.
-Perform laboratory, pilot plant and plant work.
-Maintain organized laboratory environment.
-Organize and weigh-out ingredients per formula specifications and instructions.
-Batch formulas per batching instructions.
-Execute experiments per experimental design instructions.
-Manage storage and submitting samples during storage/shelf-life evaluation.
-Perform required analytical tests.
-Record/report activities, observations and results in a laboratory notebook.
-Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and summarizing data, data calculations and graphing.
-Proactively utilize trouble-shooting to resolve challenges and issues.
-Work with cross functional groups to prepare and execute experiments and evaluate samples.
-Proactively contribute new ideas and understand/utilize standard safety/laboratory practices to effectively and safely execute tasks.

Minimum Job Requirements:
-B.S. degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry (laboratory experience is preferred)
-Experience executing laboratory experiments and formulation work/sample analysis
-Experimental note taking/reporting.
-Trouble-shooting
-Managing sample logistics for shelf-life/sensory evaluations, and other basic laboratory methods/procedures required.
-Good interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written
-Ability to work alone or in groups
-Self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to handle multiple project assignments in a fast-paced environment is required.
-Willingness to conduct hands-on work in laboratory, pilot plant and plant environments.
