Line Designer - Humorous Planning

publicly owned creator, manufacturer and distributor of social
expression products. In the United States, our greetings cards
are marketed under the names American Greetings, Carlton Cards and
Gibson. Other domestic products include DesignWare party goods,
GuildHouse candles, and Learning Horizons educational products.

Position requires knowledge of line design field and generally a minimum of 2-5 years professional experience. Using market research, trend analysis and costing guidelines, balances lines of products for color look, subject matter, technique and layout/design. Provides art direction of these elements for execution by a graphic designer and/or illustrator. Researches and analyses consumer trends, brainstorms new product directions and makes program presentations. Combines strong ability in line design with a solid understanding of AG's processes, products, technology and/or procedures. Exhibits sound decision making, prioritizes work appropriately and requires occasional supervision. Candidate should exhibit a fundamental understanding of humor and humorous illustration styles, and how to incorporate them conceptually into product. We want people who understand 'funny!' i.e., cartoons, gags, situational humor, visual humor etc. Contributes new ideas for products/processes. Consults occasionally with manager to further expand technical expertise, quality and speed, and seeks out opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills beyond the defined expectations for the position.
