Materials Management Data Controller

Job Description:


The Materials Management Data Controller is responsible for controlling the data flow and integrity of all appropriate Item Masters and Inventory Control information systems, including direct and overall responsibility for all Item Masters and administration of same, and, related policies, processes, and procedures.  Incumbent will work closely with Business Development/Marketing, New Product Development, Finance/Accounting, Operations, Materials Management, and other departments, as needed to assure Item Master data integrity, data control, and consistency. The Data Controller is also responsible for developing best practices policies and procedures to ensure efficiency of operations. This position will also be responsible for the company?s Item Master(s) in its Oracle implementation initiative.

 

Primary Position Responsibilities:

 Works with key executives and departmental personnel to control data flow into the Item Master systems, in order to achieve Item Master and Bill of Material systems data integrity and consistency. Actively participates in departmental meetings to gain insight into the timely development of Item Master data, as well as troubleshooting Item Master issues.Develops strong, smooth-running relationships and processes with all interfacing departments. Develops and ensures that strong communication links exist to facilitate smooth operation of in areas impacted by consistent data integrity of the Item Master(s). Functions as the key administrative support and systems interface person for Procurement/Operations, Product Development, and Business Development as it relates to the proper documentation and system coding support for all items, BOMs, ECOs, and other changes to the Item Master data.Key administrative advisor to Operations for all Item Master and BOM matters.Assist with physical inventory and cycle counting, as necessary.Work with the Oracle implementation team to facilitate a smooth implementation of the Item Master data function(s). Develops and maintains a solid process for managing the Item Master and BOM policies, processes, and procedures to assure data integrity. Documents all existing processes within the purview of this department.  Develops and streamlines processes where necessary. Identify and implement best practices processes as necessaryOther duties and special projects as may be assigned by the VP Procurement and Supply Management, and other Executives.

 

Work Experience:

 

?  Four-year degree and minimum 5-7 years hands-on experience in Item Master database and data flow controls and administration in a dynamic global and domestic procurement, materials management, and product development environment.

?  Experience in a fast-growing consumer products company a plus.

?  Preferred industry experience in pharmaceuticals, nutritionals, HBA/cosmetics

?  Project management experience in a complex environment

?  Familiarity with ERP systems ? experience in ERP implementation a plus

?  Computer and computer training experience, including experience with a variety of computer systems, MS Office, spreadsheet and database programs, and MRP systems

?  Managerial experience, including experience in leading cross-functional teams

?  CPM, CPIM and/or APICS a plus
