Project Engineer (still open)

A leading U.S. based consulting product development and manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Project Engineering professional to fill a position in its Columbus, Ohio headquarters.

 

Reporting to the Director of Program Management, the individual would be responsible for the development and launch of new products from concept through manufacturing. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Primary responsibilities will be as follows:

 

-activities related to product development, manufacturing readiness, and supply line assurance of specific customer product accounts throughout the entire product life cycle.

-  Scheduling and project engineering to develop and launch new products within established timelines and budgets.

-  Hands-on involvement in the design, development, engineering and testing of products. 

-  Coordination of prototype, pilot run, and production builds.

-  Transition of ongoing product production to post-launch operations team.

-  Product costing (development, acquisition, and analysis of supplier cost quotes for product, equipment, tooling, etc.)

-  Assure manufacturability of product designs and specifications.

-  Supplier requirements definition and evaluation. 

-  Development and implementation of quality and manufacturing systems.

-  Product and part qualification, and attainment of manufacturing quality requirements.

-  Manufacturing quality and field reliability defect prevention/resolution.

-  Process and productivity improvement, and cost reduction activities.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

 

Education:  BS degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.  MS/MBA preferred.

 

Experience: Preferred experience as follows:

-  The candidate should have 2-5 years experience utilizing his/her engineering skills in a product development and/or manufacturing environment.

-  Experience in developing new products and in the development and implementation of manufacturing and quality systems for mass production.

-  Experience in prototyping, testing, tooling, process development, and quality systems.

-  Experience working in a team and cross-functional environment.

-  Experience interacting with customers and suppliers.

-  Product experience in the following industries is preferred: medical, consumer roducts, appliances.

-  Experience working with international businesses is preferred.

 

Skills/Abilities:

 

-  Superior communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)

-  Effective interpersonal, leadership and team building skills.

-  Ability to organize and manage complex projects and multiple tasks.

-  Excellent computer skills including experience using MS Office and MS Project.  Knowledge of CAD is a plus.

-  Fluency in the Chinese language is helpful.

-  Creative problem solving skills and ability for measuring and improving processes and operations. 

-  Technical engineering and/or manufacturing skills in electronics, plastics injection molding, metal fabrication or assembly operations if desired.

 

Other Job Requirements:

 

Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
