Geerlings & Wade, Inc., incorporated in Massachusetts in 1986, is a direct marketer and Internet provider of premium, imported and domestic wines and wine-related merchandise directly to individual consumers through frequent promotions and marketing to existing and potential customers and an e-commerce web site.  Geerlings & Wade offers wines selected on the basis of their quality and price characteristics. Customers place orders in person or by mail, telephone, facsimile, email or via the Internet. In 2002, Geerlings and Wade launched a new marketing channel called 'The Traveling Vineyard' which is growing exponentially and will fuel the growth of the entire company into the future.  Geerlings & Wade?s core competencies are sourcing and producing quality premium wines.  Other competencies include reliable wine recommendations though personal wine consultants, education, value and price performance, ease of ordering, guaranteed quality, and convenient delivery. 

 

Description:

We are the largest direct marketer of fine wines through the direct sale, catalog and Internet. Our Operations team is looking for an individual who will take over ownership and accountability for inventory availability. This person will coordinate shipments with suppliers; work with customs broker and track deliveries into distribution center. Must be able to meet or exceed the inventory plan set forth by management. This position requires communication with international and domestic suppliers.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Schedule releases for wine and accessories

? Determine inventory allocation for distribution centers

? Coordinate trucking and cross-dock process

? Determine cost effective method of shipment

? Forward necessary paperwork for customs and freight forwarder

? Maintain purchasing data

? Track, expedite and report purchase order receipts

? Maintain inventory levels to support accessories forecast and Sales

? Work with Director to find new suppliers and cost reduction.

? Work with suppliers to improve packaging and product labeling

? Work with Marketing on New product development

? Monitor Distribution inventories and recommend inventory transfers to balance inventory

? Communicate inventory availability to management

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS:

? Reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain, Interact closely with: Marketing Department, Finance & Accounting, IT, Director of Wine, Wineries, 3rd Party Fulfillment partner and other suppliers

 

QUALIFICATION:

? Bachelor?s degree required

? SQL and Crystal reports experience a plus!

? 3 - 5 years Supply Chain experience

? Good understand of inventory management and forecasting practices

? Must display accuracy and thoroughness in all work

? Must work well under pressure, accept responsibility for own actions and follow through on commitments

? Willing to take on additional responsibilities as required

? Must be very flexible with the ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize and execute multiple critical tasks simultaneously

? Being a Team Player is essential
