Job Title: Dispute Resolution Specialist

Reports to: VP of Collections Management

 

Purpose:

Dispute Resolution Specialist is primarily responsible for resolving debtor disputes while responding to debtors of delinquent accounts by mail and/or telephone and contacting them to negotiate payment agreements. Dispute Resolution Specialist is required to accurately notate the accounts, analyze account information to make sound business decisions, follow procedures and work effectively as a member of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Utilizes extensive knowledge of the FDCPA laws.

2.  Responds to debtor disputes.

3.  Drafts correspondence to debtors.

4.  Initiates outbound calls from debtors.

5.  Receives inbound calls from debtors.

6.  Interprets, summarizes and notates data from Credit Bureau Reports to debtor?s file.

7.  Analyzes account data to determine appropriate procedure. 

8.  Notates and effectively inputs data for accounts with new bankruptcy filings and marks the account (s) for no future contact by our collectors.

9.  Negotiates and establishes payment options

10.  Participates in a team environment to achieve departmental and company goals.

11.  Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill

12.  Performs all other duties as assigned

 

Levels of Supervision Required:

General Direction:  receives very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; work is usually quite independent of others; operates within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.

 

Language Requirements:

This position requires the ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Must have the ability to write simple correspondence.  In addition to, the position requires the ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and other employees in the organization.
