Export Customer Service Coordinator

MAJOR PURPOSE This role is a branch/DC based position that will have responsibility to provide superior customer service by delivering products and services to meet or exceed customer expectations.

II.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Builds strong customer relationships, loyalty and retention.
- Enters export orders into computer system (SAP) for processing and details order information track order cycle time.
- Tracks open orders and provide regular updates to customers and sales representative on status.
- Manages the fulfillment of an order from entry to delivery to customer or forwarder
- Effectively manages back orders by utilizing SAP reporting tools, mainframe inventory information and contacting Grainger inventory specialists to obtain stock.
- Utilizes computer system to direct inventory to DC to complete and ship orders.
- Assists customers in the selection of Grainger product
- Uses the computer system to provide information on pricing, availability, and alternated product selection to complete customer transactions.
- Supports local Export territory managers with quotations and developing relationships with key customers
- Partners with in-country sales representatives to provide superior customer service to the military and key commercial accounts. Ensures 24 hr response to sales representative and customer base, assists with quotes and gives updates on status of customer orders.
- Applies credit and pricing procedures to meet customer expectations while minimizing financial risk for the organization.
- Ensure credit/payment integrity by determining and coordinating appropriate customer credit levels and methods of international payment; i.e., letters-of-credit, wire transfer, sight drafts, etc.
- Works effectively with others in a team based environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems
- Process various customer inquiries and requests-for-quotations (RFQs) that are compatible to the company's product offering and foreign market suitability.
- Determine the most cost-effective, efficient, and competitive method of order pricing, transportation, consolidation, and freight forwarding, to quote and execute the business.
- Uses computer system to provide the most expeditious fulfillment of hold for complete orders.


- Orientation of the export community (forwarders, consolidators, logistic companies, freight and air couriers)
- Working knowledge of U.S. export regulations
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision within specified time frames.
- Customer service and order entry experience
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing superior customer service.
- Must feel comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment where priorities are continually changing.
- Interpersonal skills to work closely with customers, field operations, suppliers, and Chicago personnel.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity
- Attentive to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Foreign language skills (English – Spanish)
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software
- Working knowledge of various credit/payment methods
