Import/Export Brokerage III

Summary Computes duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to/from foreign destinations. Examines various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements. Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. May contact customs officials to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.

Tasks & Accountabilities
Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations. Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules and regulations; computes duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and volume of merchandise that is imported or exported to foreign countries. Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and all governement entries. Examines invoices, bills of lading and shipping documents to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes. Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility. Provides information to and communication with department of foreign affairs. Responsible for generation of invoices on a daily basis. May receive and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.

Skills & Qualifications
Senior service, production, or support roles highly experienced in area of responsibility. Performs all of the standard and some specialized, more complex aspects of the function. Technical certification or Associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 2-4 years of experience in related area of responsibility.
