Inbound Customer Service - *FREIGHT CARRIER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED*

Job Summary:

 

Verifies and issues vessel arrival notices.  Reconciles inbound manifest/stow plans.  Builds good customer relations to assist customers efficiently.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

1.  Issue and close inbounds.

 

2.  Reconciles, validates and issues arrival notices in accordance with established guidelines. Verifies validity of address to ensure proper party is notified and that cargo is released to appropriate parties.

 

3.  Provides assistance to customers and resolves inquiries.  Prioritizes their service needs and requirements.

 

4.  Supplies the customer/CHB (Customs House Broker) with their collect charges, the date of cargo availability, and the amount of free time (the amount of time they have to pick up their cargo before extra demurrage charges are assessed).  Authorizes third party billing.

 

5.  Reconciles load/empties and distribute discharge orders.  Sets up connecting carrier/transshipment moves.

 

6.  Interfaces with government agencies, terminal operators and internal/external customers.  Needs to maintain a high comprehension of the import process to ensure customer expectations are met.



7.  Collection and review of inbound documentation to ensure accurate and timely releases to appropriate parties.

 

8.  Reconcile and clean-up AMS (Automated Manifest System).  Ensure all AMS data is entered accurately prior to sending to US Customs and verify all required releases are received from Customs through the AMS system.  Distribute arrival notices immediately to the customer.  Assist others in Department in understanding the link between the DOCSYS system and the AMS system.

 

10. Assists in other departmental functions when the need arises.

 

11. Performs other tasks as assigned by Manager.
