The Investment Consultant — Acquisition is responsible for generating new purchases and opening new accounts for American Century Investments by engaging prospective and current investors in a conversation around their investment needs, educating them on American Century Investments point of view of building and preserving wealth, then selling the investor on the benefits of using American Century products to meet these goals. The Investment Consultant will have detailed knowledge of American Century's investment options, discussing the merits of each alternative to help meet the prospective clients' wishes.



 



Major Responsibilities:

Focus on existing and prospective investors needs throughout the sales process by matching mutual fund and/or brokerage products to meet the prospects goals. Overcome objections, ask for the business and close the sale. Utilize advice tools when appropriate, to provide sound investment recommendations based on the investors risk tolerance and reward expectations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on investor contacts utilizing AWD Tracker tools. Initiate a long term relationship through inbound and outbound calls. Effectively transfer the client relationship to the appropriate service team to support our on-going business model of building loyal investors. (85%)Proactively make outbound calls to prospective customers in support of our Direct Marketing partnership efforts. (10%)Demonstrates strong sales skills in a face-to-face environment (seminars/trade shows). (5%)



Accountabilities:Acquire and maintain a deep disciplinary knowledge of American Century Investments and American Century Brokerage products, services, policies and procedures, financial industry information and tax implications. Actively listen, ask probing questions and act upon the stated and unstated needs of investors. Engage investors in mutually beneficial conversations in order to acquire new assets/accounts to support the growth of our company. Applies the learning and skills acquired through Helping Shareholders Succeed training. Proactively seeks to cross-sell American Century products and services to promote other business areas. Base pay and incentives are measured by shareholder satisfaction, acquisition of assets, conversions, new clients, etc. on an individual, team, department and company level. Efficiently meet the needs of our investors by achieving or exceeding productivity measurements for the business. Aids in the success of the Direct business through a commitment to working at his/her personal best. Supports Direct Sales and Service strategies to champion corporate initiatives. Works autonomously and is reliable. Use judgment to make sound business decisions.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Series 6 and 63 registered. NASD Series 65/66 preferred Sales experience required Specialized investment experience strongly preferred. Extensive knowledge and experience with financial markets, investment strategies, asset allocation, retirement planning, and portfolio management. Excellent communication skills. Experience managing multiple priorities. Functional knowledge of navigating computers and the ability to type 25 words per minute.



 

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment

 

Hours of operation: 7:00 AM — 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, Saturday hours; 9:00AM-2:00PM for inbound calls



 

Some evening hours (until9:00 pm CT) required for outbound calling
