Traffic Officer

Position Description: Title: Traffic Officer Duration: Temp to Hire Pay: $11/hour (will increase after being hired on) Hours: Varies; Must be able to work weekends (no exceptions) JOB DESCRIPTION: The Traffic Officer performs work involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of state laws and city ordinances. Traffic work also involves the maintenance of order, the direction of vehicles and related tasks, and a high visibility in the parking garages, with emphasis in keeping traffic flowing smoothly. Officers must display a positive attitude toward duties involving traffic and related matters at all times. QUALIFICATIONS: The Traffic Officer is expected to act with a great deal of independence and initiative in daily performance of his/her duties, continuously demonstrating and maintaining proficiency in all traffic related tasks. Officers will be tested on their knowledge and asked to demonstrate certain skills at regular intervals. English language required.

Position Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: -Knowledge of problems involved in parking violations and the procedures used in dealing with such problems. -Ability to write clear reports, using computer, accurately putting to words, observations of various events, occurrences, circumstances, statements made by others, etc. -Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions. -Ability to analyze routine problems, organize assigned work, and develop effective work methods and schedules -Ability to maintain amicable relations with fellow employees and the public. -Ability to read, understand interpret and appropriately apply laws, ordinances rules and regulations, including safety regulations. -Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as: running, climbing ladders, lifting barricades, cones, delineators and other traffic control devices, dragging and/or carrying injured person(s) to safety, responding to emergency situations in a timely manner, etc. -Knowledge of fire prevention. -Knowledge of security measures in detaining persons, so as to assist security officers as directed. -Knowledge of problems and procedures involved in enforcing traffic regulations. -Ability to work effectively under a variety of weather conditions. -Ability to work varied assignments on a scheduled or emergency basis, including weekends and holidays. -MUST BE ABLE TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECK
