TITLE: TRANSIT INFORMATION SPECIALIST
SALARY RANGE:  $40,000-46,000

HOURS:  12:00n to 8:30pm.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

This position reports to the Manager of Customer Communications. This position requires the ability to gain a thorough knowledge of our train operations. Main responsibility will be to provide timely and accurate service information to VRE passengers. This is done through receiving information from the field and passing it on via TRIP, the computer system that provides service information to VRE passengers waiting on the platform. When not operating TRIP, this individual will answer e-mail.

 

SCOPE OF DUTIES:

 

 

?  As a TRIP Systems Operator, this individual will be the primary point of contact for activities associated with the operation of the ?VRE Communications and Information Center?. This will require the dissemination of reliable and timely operational information to riders and office staff.

 

?  This individual will be required to work with external agencies, such as Amtrak and Metro Traffic, to gather information and inform them of disruptions in service. 

 

?  Provide written response to customer service e-mail inquiries and concerns.

 

?  Manager other customer serviced projects.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

?  Minimum of an undergraduate degree is required, along with at least three years experience.  Must be proficient in MS/Word, Excel, and Internet/E-mail applications.  Basic technical troubleshooting skills preferred.

 

REQUIRED ABILITIES:

 

?  Demonstrate level of confidence, maturity, and judgment that allows independent problem resolution in a real time environment.

 

?  Must possess excellent writing and oral communications skills.

 

?  Must have the ability to deal effectively with people in a real time, service-orientated environment.

 

?  Must be self-motivated and have demonstrated ability to work in an unsupervised environment.

 

?  Must be able to work flexible hours demanded by a transit operations environment.  Some overtime will be required at times.

 

?  Work dependability and reliable transportation a must.
