Academic Support/Peer Tutoring Coordinator
Academic Support/Peer Tutoring Coordinator
Responsibilities:
? ? Manage staff of peer tutors including hiring, training, supervising. Manage budget regarding student payroll, placement units, resources and other expenses.
? ? Work with Admissions on Open Houses and Orientations to promote/market Academic Support services to college community.
? ? Track students? use of program and follow up accordingly.
? ? Coordinate with faculty to assess the needs of students in the program and those referred by faculty.
? ? Share tutors? timesheets (use of the program, concerns they are having) with faculty as appropriate.
? ? Assist the Remediation Specialist in implementing appropriate academic accommodations for students with disabilities.
? ? Assist in developing Academic Support Materials.
? ? Develop and deliver training sessions for faculty and students in the use of PLATO program. Maintain all upgrades and license renewals.
? ? Perform tutoring as needed.
? ? Insure that the Academic Support Center is ready for student use.
? ? Maintain confidentiality of records and information related to students? use of the center.
? ? Assist in coordinating special events and workshops.
Placement Assessment Responsibilities:
? ? Coordinate placement assessment for all incoming students.
? ? Schedule and proctor all assessments.
? ? Maintain database of placement results. CARS and interdepartmental.
? ? Work with Registrar?s Office to ensure that all students are correctly scheduled for English, math and computer courses.
? ? Produce reports pertaining to placement results for incoming students and general reports as needed.
? ? Perform outcomes assessment to ensure placement accuracy.
? ? Responsible for all placement upgrades and placement unit purchasing.
Other Administrative Responsibilities:
? ? Attend all appropriate college wide functions. (Graduation, Orientation, etc)
? ? Committee participation.
? ? Other responsibilities as they arise.
Position Requirements:
1. 1. One to three years of post secondary school-based experience in remediation, assessment, or basic education;
2. 2. Bachelor?s Degree in a discipline related to mathematics, English or reading and teaching experience in the discipline or graduate training in remedial education.
3. 3. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, leadership and computer skills.
