Area Coordinator
Total Education Solutions (TES) is the leading national provider of outsourced special education compliance and staffing solutions to public education agencies. TES currently provides compliance and staffing solutions to over 200 public and charter school sites, representing 70 school districts and 35 Special Education Governing Entities.
We are currently looking for a full-time Area Coordinator to provide services to out clients throughout the Los Angeles area. Our ideal candidate MUST have a strong background in Special Education; Laws, regulations and teaching methods/practices. In addition, must possess very strong organizational and computer skills. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold valid California Special Education credential (i.e. Resource Specialist, School Psychology, Speech and Language Pathologist) with two-five years experience in special education required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Area Coordinator
Reports to: Regional Manager
LEADS: certified special education personnel including Resource Specialists, Special Day Class, Teachers, Speech and Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Adapted P.E. Specialists, Occupational Therapists and School Nurses. Provides input on performance evaluations to the District Manager for the above-listed service providers
A team player, detail-oriented, flexible, consistent and reliable, able to work under only minimal supervision and willing to work with multiple staff across partnering agencies.
Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional and paraprofessional personnel in carrying out an effective instructional or remediation program. Must have a working knowledge of modern office technology, equipment and procedures. Experience in compliance monitoring of state and federal regulations regarding special education, including facilitating IEP meetings, required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
A valid California drivers license, automobile insurance with a minimum of $100,000.00 liability coverage, and ability to drive to various sites to provide services a must.
A current background check through the FBI and the DOJ must be submitted. A valid TB test (within last 4 years)
Must have access to a windows-based computer with: connection to the internet with Internet Explorer 6.0 (or greater), graphics card capable of displaying at least 16-bit at 800 x 600 resolution, and ability to send and
receive e-mail.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift/transfer students/consumers and equipment. Frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching, walking and standing.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PERFORMANCE
Special Education Management/Consultation
(Billable Services)
Builds and manages positive relationships with clients and authorizing school districts including Directors of Special Education, assigned Program Specialists and/or SELPA Directors.
Maintains TES relationships with public and charter school clients and/or public/charter school sites including creating positive and effective working relationships among school principals and/or school directors and faculty, students, parents, and TES service providers.
Organizes, coordinates, manages and undertakes timely and effective compliance audits of TES clients to ensure compliance with IDEA.
Provides orientation and training regarding IDEA compliance to TES clients including school principals/directors, school faculty and parents as requested.
Special Education Management/Consultation (continued)
Responds to inquiries by referencing TES, IDEA, state special education or SELPA Plan policies, regulations, and operational procedures.
Represents TES/client at various community/school/agency meetings as requested by client and/or TES.
Oversees the review, management, monitoring, and reporting of special education service delivery with regard to meeting requirements of each client?s Individual Education Plan as well as IDEA
Provides assessment as necessary to ensure individual student compliance with IDEA.
Facilitates and/or participates in Individual Education Plan meeting development and attendance as necessary.
Maintains own utilization/productivity at 75% or better.
Administration/Supervision

Maintains an effective team of TES Service Providers through effective managing, deployment, and orientation/training.
Reviews and provides orientation to service providers regarding TES policies and procedures including the TES Service Provider Handbook, and the TES Charter School Special Education Handbook.
Reviews and provides orientation to service providers regarding client contract provisions, client vision, mission and philosophy statements as well as client school calendar(s) to ensure compliance and incorporation into TES service delivery.
Establishes and supervises the accurate maintenance of complex and confidential student files as well as the TES Student Information Management Systems (SIMS).
Ensures provision of special education services to students referred by TES clients in a timely manner in keeping with the provisions of the TES/client contract and IDEA compliance requirements.

Demonstrates and uses knowledge of client needs to continually market TES special education services.
Capitalizes on local opportunities to establish the TES presence in the district.

Attends to administrative detail utilizing initiative and good judgment; verifies details and information as needed with the other TES administrative staff.
Maintains a professional demeanor, attire and work schedule as a TES representative.
Utilizes bilingual skills (as applicable) to enhance communication with consumers.

Conveys interpersonal skills that enhance TES contacts with administrators, employees, consumers, customers and the general public.
