ASSISTANT ACADEMIC DIRECTOR FOR

ELEMENTARY & SECONDARY EDUCATION 

Loyola Marymount University has an opening for an Assistant Academic Director for Elementary and Secondary Education.  This position provides professional advisement to elementary and secondary education candidates.  Assists the Academic Program Director in the daily operations of the Elementary and Secondary Education programs including, but not limited to:  admissions, program assessment, curriculum review and devopment; grant writing and writing of CTC program documents.  Responds to student and faculty concerns.  Tracks student retention, progress toward degree and credentials and completion of benchmarks.  Designs and implements intervention processes for candidates not making appropriate progress.  Administers culminating experiences program for elementary and secondary candidates. Communicates and collaborates with other program directors, assistant directors and the Director of Liberal Studies.  Represents LMU within education community and at professional organizations or associations.

We seek candidates who have a Master?s Degree in Education or related field and current State of California professional clear single subject teaching credential.  Minimum three years teaching experience at the secondary level.  Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of teacher preparation and student advising.  Exemplary written and oral communication skills evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries.  Highly developed organization and leadership skills. Demonstrated computer competency.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office and student information systems preferred.
