ASSISTANT DEAN FOR CLINICAL EDUCATION 

 

Loyola Marymount University has an opening for an Assistant Dean for Clinical Education.  This position will provide leadership and oversee operations for the School of Education in the area of clinical education. This position ensures quality fieldwork, intern and practitioner experiences for candidates and develops and implements processes to monitor candidate progress.  The person in this position works in collaboration with the department Chairs and Dean to formulate School of Education policies and procedures related to fieldwork.  This position will also be responsible for developing and enhancing relationships with school districts.  This individual must communicate and collaborate with appropriate constituencies about the operations of clinical education. Incumbent will also assist the Department of Teacher Education with TPAs, course schedules and graduate and undergraduate bulletins.  Additionally, the person in this position will coordinate clinical education assessment efforts with Manager of Assessment, Program Directors, Chairs and faculty including fieldwork assessments.  Incumbent will respond to student, faculty and staff concerns.  Attend state-level meetings and disseminate information about TPAs and intern programs.  The position will also represent LMU within education community and at professional organizations or associations.

 

Also required is demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: clinical education, employee supervision and development, assessment and policy formulation and implementation.  Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports, handbooks, correspondence, and executive summaries. Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.  Demonstrated computer competency and knowledge of Microsoft Office and student information systems preferred.

 

We seek candidates who have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related field or equivalent experience. The incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of changes in best practices in clinical education and State credentialing requirements.  State of California teaching credential preferred.  The candidate should have a minimum of ten years successful experience in educating and supervising K-12 school professionals in progressively responsible positions.
