Career Services Advisor
The Art Institute of Las Vegas has an exciting opportunity in our Career Services Department. If you are an individual who is driven to meet or exceed placement and average salary goals, this may be the ideal opportunity for you. As a Career Services Advisor, you will play an integral role in assisting our students in finding jobs in their field of study. Below is a detailed description of the position:
Position Summary:
Meet the placement goals of graduates assigned. Develop job opportunities for graduates via telemarketing, campus recruiting, personal visits to employers, events, direct mail campaigns and direct referral to existing employer base. Maintain detailed employment information on graduates.
Key Job Elements:
1. Assure that the Ai/AiLV philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
2. Meet individual placement and average salary targets as indicated in quarterly plans within six months of graduation. Takes into consideration level of graduate skills and earning potential for optimum matching and referring to job opportunities.
3. Meet overall department placement and average salary targets on annual basis.
4. Develop, track, and report graduate employment program, graduate profiles, success stories, and employment progress. Inputs appropriate profile info on EASY database system and employment history.
5. Plans and conducts employer visits and on-campus recruiting meeting targets according to individual quarterly plan. Educates employers on appropriate and competitive compensation. Plans and conducts marketing calls and direct mail marketing follow-up. Takes into consideration candidate skills, geographic location and optimum opportunity for candidate earnings. On average 50 new contacts are added quarterly.
6. Actively and routinely seek employer feedback and research industry trends. Works closely with the Professional Development instructors and Career Services Director to contribute to course content, job search strategies, and the successful outcome of this course for pending graduates? job search readiness. Plans, schedules, and conducts lectures to final quarter students according to lecture outlines for Career Services and job search readiness. Conducts special lectures and workshops to current students on employment outlook, graduate successes, job opportunities, and other relevant information as needed and/or as scheduled. Schedules and conducts an exit interview with each pending graduate assigned. From this interview a complete candidate profile is developed and entered in candidate record. Begins referring candidate to appropriate job leads as soon as candidate can effectively follow-up and tracks candidate progress at least every two weeks.
7. Assist in preparation of graduates in job search strategies.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
1. Bachelor in business, marketing, or related field.
2. Equivalent experience could be considered as substitute for education requirements.
3. Two years experience in placement or career counseling and at least one year experience in a marketing environment.
4. Experience in recruiting/staffing in the hospitality & restaurant industry preferred.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
7. Knowledge of visual arts, retailing, entertainment, and/or multimedia industry desired.
8. Must be goal oriented.
