College Admissions Consultant

The Kaplan Educational Foundation is looking for a College Admissions Consultant to support the Kaplan Leadership Program.  The Admission Consultant will report to the Foundation Director and will be responsible for helping our first cohort of Kaplan Leadership Scholars through the transfer process from community colleges to bachelor?s degree programs.  Specifically, the Consultant will help the Scholars:

 

? understand the transfer process from community colleges to bachelor?s degree programs.

? target and select 4-year college programs for application.

? evaluate prospective schools during college visits.

? complete all application components including crafting essays and personal statements.

? make acceptance decisions. 


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates must be based in the New York City area, have a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of college admissions experience with experience in community college transfers.  Candidates should have superior interpersonal and problem solving skills and proven success in working with diverse, first generation college students.  A broad based knowledge about 4-year programs within and outside of New York City is preferred.  Well-developed business writing and communication skills are a must.

Candidates should be available to begin working with the Scholars this summer and continue through early-2007. The total job is estimated to require 75 hours over this period.

Salary/Benefits:

- This is a consultant position to be paid based on an hourly rate for hours worked.
