Course Developer - ERP

The Course Developer is responsible for the design and development of courses and course elements within a Course Development team. Course Developers are assigned courses from the ERP Training Lead or from the dept manager. You work collaboratively with the ERP Team Lead and Training Lead to determine the appropriate learning outcomes and competencies for new and revised courses. Course Developers work closely and collaboratively with designated subject matter experts (SME), and other stakeholders.
The Course Developer works within the course development schedule, monitors and exchanges deliverables between all SME's, using the appropriate scope of the design documents, and advocates for the staff/faculty in designing high-quality, online and classroom learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
? Develop instructional design
? Map each desired learning outcome to specific instructional design strategies including assessments,
? Work with faculty and SMEs to select appropriate content and subject matter materials for intended learning outcomes that are suited to the adult online and classroom learner audience,
? Apply current instructional design research and theory that support our Next Generation principles,
? Create, update and maintain instructional and visual design documents
? Document learning outcome requirements, assumptions, and instructional design recommendations in the appropriate design documents,
? Create storyboards and develop flowcharts that support overall course design,
? Follow course design document to develop online courses
? Select and use techniques to define/sequence instructional design
? Modify SME content into course content that is suited to the adult online and classroom learner
? Follow the existing course development process
? Advocate collaboratively for the course development process
? Advocate collaboratively for the learner, faculty and staff employee
? Follow editorial and content standards, while maintaining the graphical standards for the highest possible quality, navigational ease, consistency in look and feel, and content of courses
? Work as part of a cross-functional team to identify challenges, recommend and implement solutions that will achieve on-time delivery of high quality courses Qualifications:
Pedagogy/Instructional Design
? Knowledge and experience designing instruction and informational content for Web and classroom use.
Visual Information Presentation
? Experience in writing technology-based instruction (Web-based, multimedia, or CBT).
? Solid knowledge of several applications (Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite);
? Solid knowledge of page layout hierarchy and desktop publishing.
Web Development Methodology
? Basic knowledge of Web usability and interface design principles; knowledge of site navigation and information architecture, technical limitations
Online Authoring Tools Skills
? Ability to translate instructional strategies into course elements through such tools as WebCT, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, VSS and classroom materials
Preferred Qualifications
? 3-7 years experience building content on learning management systems e.g. BlackBoard or WebCT
? Knowledge and application of project management principles
? 3-7 years professional-level experience in any combination of internet and communications roles
? Experience with personalization, content management, Web reporting, statistical analysis, and e-commerce a plus..
? Experience with PeopleSoft or Oracle ERP systems.
Experience
? 3 years of demonstrated course development experience (instructional designer, content developer, writer/editor, web producer, etc).
Education
? Bachelor's degree in new media communications, instructional design, educational psychology or related fields.
