Director, Clinical Education

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Clinical Education Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of all clinical education activities, including assisting with the recruitment and direction of adjunct faculty members, serving as an  adjunct faculty member, establishing clinical placements, and managing the clinical facilities. The Clinical Education Director must be an experienced nurse educator prepared at the Master?s level or above with a track record of achieving challenging goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position is responsible for clinical education activities at the site location.  This includes the following areas:

Provide clinical direction and support for the educational site: Develop and maintain clinical facilities as directed by VP of Nursing Operations. Within guidelines established by the corporate office, develop the clinical facilities operating budget and manage clinical equipment and supplies within the confines of that budget. Establish and develop clinical placements specific to curricular requirements. Ensure all clinical activities are congruent with the curriculum and meet quality standards. Orient, develop, and mentor clinical faculty as needed. Assist with student orientation, with emphasis on clinical components of the program. Ensure that appropriate assessment processes for students and faculty are implemented. Act as liaison with hospital and academic partners as directed by VP of Nursing Operations. Ensure complete compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies affiliated with the nursing program. Function collaboratively with Site Director on student and program related issues. Work in a hands-on capacity at all times. This may include serving as clinical instructor for designated course(s). As necessary, counsel and mentor both current and potential students. Contribute to the overall success of the academic team and company as a whole.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education: At minimum, Master?s degree in nursing is required. Additional ongoing certifications and training desired. 

Experience: Professional nursing record that indicates a strong practice background. Nurse educator with experience in clinical arena, preferably at the baccalaureate level. 

Competencies and Eligibilities: Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Oklahoma and holds a current RN licensure in California. Eligibility for adjunct faculty status at the University Of Oklahoma College Of Nursing. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in quality undergraduate instruction. Computer skills and basic knowledge of online education strategies.High degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work with many different personalities.Communication Skills:  Strong written and verbal communication skills; works well with other functional groups, and can communicate effectively within the academic and health care environments. Excellent organizational skills. Self-directed with the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities on a daily basis.
