Director of Gallery Programs

The Children's Museum of Houston seeks a Director of Gallery Programs to be responsible for the quality of the visitor learning experience within the Museum exhibits and programmatic areas. Ensures that all activities and facilitation are child-centered, family oriented, aligned with the Museum?s DEEP Initiative, supportive of student success in school, and appropriate for a birth through 12 year old audience.

 

DUTIES

Develop and execute strategic plans for gallery programming and facilitation.



Evaluate, with the support of contractors as feasible, all gallery programs and facilitation.



Submit reports on visitor attitudes toward CMH exhibits, programs and staff, accompanied by any action plans that will increase visitor satisfaction and learning.



Manage all gallery educators and approve/advance their programming plans.



Manage the Gallery Manager, who has a team of 4 supervisors and 40-50 Discovery Guides as direct reports.



Manage the budget for gallery programs and collaborate with the Director of Design and Production to ensure that program and exhibit budgets are aligned for the best possible visitor experience.



Collaborate with the Director of Design and Production to ensure effective and consistently refreshed exhibit activities.



Collaborate with the Director of Public Relations to ensure the gallery programs are marketable to the public.



Serve as Gallery Manager as needed, which requires maintaining a flexible schedule that will include some weekends, holidays and evenings.



Report weekly to the Department Director team (led by the Executive Director) on results from the prior week and plans for upcoming weeks.

**Bilingual in Spanish preferred
