Exam Development Specialist (Item Writing)

SUMMARY
This position manages the test banks for The IIA?s global certification exams, including the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), and Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA). This position manages the question-writing program, develops author recruitment strategies, contracts and corresponds with question authors, performs gap analyses, and prepares reports related to question usage and author performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and implement author recruitment strategies.
Utilize Access and Excel to identify gaps between questions available in test banks and questions needed for future test development. (Perform gap analyses.)
Contract and correspond with question authors.
Create/maintain author database and track author performance based on the number/percentage of accepted questions.
Format and enter new questions into the test banks and review questions to ensure that references, topic areas, keys, and rationales are accurate.
Extract items from test banks for review by Board of Regents and certification management.
Maintain and update test banks with edits to questions per Board of Regents and certification management to ensure integrity of questions and exams.
Adhere to strict confidentiality requirements for exam development and administration.
Create statistical reports and Access queries for Board of Regents and certifications team.
Serve as back-up for other Specialists, Exam Development.
Perform other functions and special projects as assigned by certifications management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with an international organization would be an asset to The IIA and it's global goals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Intermediate or higher ability to work in a computerized environment with a working knowledge of most Microsoft Office products. Strong Microsoft Access and Word skills required.
