The Director works closely with the owners to develop and carry out plans for program success.  NY Learning Center provides a safe and loving place for children with developmental disabilities to find, use, and express their unique strengths and talents. School aged children and young adults come to the center to spend time with friends and to participate in activities. This is a full-time position located at NY Learning Center in the city of San Pablo. This position is part of the before and after school programs dealing with school-age children and young adults (ages 5-20) with developmental disabilities. Work shifts are generally 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday with work schedules of up to 50 hours a week at ~ $40,000 a year paid salary.

Responsibilities:

 

? Manage Center / Oversee Site Supervisor, Program Administrator, and Office Manager

? Provide supervision to classroom teachers as well as teach when needed

? Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers

? Assist teachers in design of curriculum that provides maximum level of community integration and independence

? Consult with parents, extended families, and other service providers

? Oversee intake and assessment of new students

? Complete written reports and child assessments

? Oversee facilities upkeep; cleanliness

? Develop vision for continued program growth including the development of integration programs

? Develop program policies

? Cultivate and maintain relationship with UC and ECE education department faculty and students

? Contribute to semiannual student goal setting process by collaborating with parents, classroom teachers, and program specialists to develop age appropriate, functional goals, and objectives

? Facilitate staff and teacher meetings once a month on the last Tuesday

? Provide in-service to staff on key strategies and best practices

? Communicate with owner regularly.

? Participate in small scale fundraising activities

? Oversea teacher scheduling to assure appropriate classroom coverage

? Review and order all necessary supplies for the center

? Maintain positive relationship with CCL

? Keep good record of contacts, such as with the city of San Pablo, CCL, and the West Contra Costa Fire Department

? Be aware of any and all changes of title 22

? Check California Department of Social Services website weekly for updates and changes

? Submit daily report of teachers, students, who was sick ect.

? Maintain employee files to date

? Keep track of ?outing book?

? Maintain First aid kits and emergency bags to date

 

Qualifications:

 

? At least 1 years teaching experience with disabled students and youth

? 12 ECE units (including courses in child growth and development, child family and the community and pre-school curriculum) and 3 units in pre-school administration & 4 years teaching experience OR

? AA in Child Development of ECE and 3 units in pre-school Administration & 3 years teaching experience OR

? BA in Child Development or ECE and 3 units in pre-school administration & 1 year of teaching experience OR California site supervisor permit

? Proven success in developing integration projects for special needs children

? Excellent communicator and problem solver

? Supervision experience preferred

? Excellent writing skills

? Knowledge and understanding of state licensing regulations
