A division of Kaplan Test Prep and Kaplan Inc., Kaplan K12 works closely with our school partners to build proficiency in reading and mathematics, improve performance on state tests, and increase college opportunities. The K12 division is a fast paced and rapidly growing part of Kaplan's business.
Financial Operations Coordinator
Kaplan, K12 seeks bright, enterprising candidates to handle operational aspects of financial interactions with customers. Candidates do not necessarily need a background in finance-we are more interested in people with strong skills, an interest in business, a willingness to learn, and a drive to succeed. This position is a good opportunity for a rising star to increase his/her knowledge of business operations and prepare for further advancement within the organization.
Responsibilities:
o Monitor the status of Accounts Receivable (AR) and report regularly on AR balances.
o Reduce AR through proactive collections efforts: review AR reports, research unbilled and past due accounts, make collections calls to customers, and provide proof of service documentation to ensure timely payment.
o Manage receipt and processing of customer payments.
o Ensure K12's vendor eligibility by working with Legal, Contracting, and other departments to ensure that K12 satisfies client regulations for vendor eligibility.
o Maintain documentation on customer tax exemption status. Regularly audit customer lists and sales histories to ensure that tax has been charged as appropriate.
o Analyze reports and work within several financial systems
o K12 is rapidly growing business and there will be projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
o Bachelor's Degree.
o 1+ years professional experience.
o Strong organizational skills-ability to plan, prioritize, and handle numerous tasks and details simultaneously.
o Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and persuasively through phone, fax, letter, and e-mail.
o Attention to detail and sound quantitative skills.
o Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, to work both independently and closely with others.
o Strong ability in MS Excel, good working knowledge of MS Word, and user knowledge of MS Access databases; willingness to learn new systems.
