Library Assistant II, Penn State Delaware County Campus Library
Reporting to the Campus Head Librarian, the Library Assistant for Evening Services is responsible to supervise the library and provide all library services when scheduled as the sole staff member on duty, up to four evenings per week and occasional weekends, includes providing information and reference assistance, opening and closing library, answering telephone, insuring security of facility and collections, serving as liaison with Campus security and maintenance personnel as necessary. Supervise acquisition and process materials for the campus library, including books, audiotapes and videotapes, CDs, DVDs, etc. Select, train, schedule, assign daily duties, evaluate and recommend personnel actions for part-time student assistants employed by the campus library. Serve as liaison to University Libraries personnel for Human Resource functions, including processing personnel forms, processing time cards, managing wage budgets, etc. Serve as liaison to University Libraries Business Office operations for equipment orders, allotment budgets, etc. Update and maintain campus library Web pages, and be the Web liaison to University Park Web staff. Provide routine maintenance on equipment: LIAS (Library Information Access System) workstations, staff terminals, printers, photocopiers, microform equipment, etc. Participate in staff meetings, policy development, staff development activities as assigned. Provide reference assistance, to help users define their needs, and place them in the context of broad subject areas, and select sources to satisfy their needs. Requires Bachelor?s degree or equivalent, plus three months of work-related experience preferably working in a library. Candidate should possess computer aptitude, a service attitude, and the ability to work with individuals from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
