Role:

This position is accountable for insuring that the program is a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment for each child, where self concepts are enhanced, independence is encouraged, and individuality respected. 

 

The position requires a high level of commitment, leadership and managerial organizational, and communication skills. The director coordinates the overall program, which includes the morning and afternoon sessions, the extended day and summer programs. In addition the head articulates the Montessori Method to the parents and community and represents AMC in community functions and agencies. 

 

The director reports directly to the owner and is responsible for the program operating on a sound basis, meeting fiscal, legal and TX State licensing standards and objectives.

 

The director role should be that of a team member working with the staff toward the the overall philosophy and objectives of the program.

 

Qualifications:

Certificate or degree in child development/Montessori training/kindergarten education, certificate in elementary education or psychology with an emphasis in early childhood education. 

 

Applicant should also have experience in teaching in a child care center and Montessori school, in supervising others, preferably in a day care setting; in managing a child care center, and effective leadership and communication skills.  Applicant should have a strong computer knowledge and use.
