Network and Engineering Services Manager
Bachelor?s degree in a technology or management related field with a minimum of four years field experience as a computing technical professional and two years in a supervising role. Considerable knowledge on network computer systems and computing environments, to include: local and wide area networks, security, directory databases, servers, systems, and support processes. Considerable knowledge on managing personnel, to include performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, motivating, and conflict resolution. Advance knowledge of communications technologies and cross-systems integration. Ability to analyze raw data and compare it to historical information for detection of complex system wide problems. Consults and coordinates with customers and vendors for computing needs and requirements to ensure system reliability and integrity. This includes purchasing of IT equipment, software, physically distributing, installing it, configuring it, maintaining it, and setting up processes for support to all stakeholders within the district. Ensure change management procedures to include, change approval, testing, scheduling, documenting, and notification of all parties involved or affected. Direct daily operations of Network Services, analyzing workflow, priorities, and deadlines. Assigns personnel as needed for the support of the district mission, goals, and objectives. Maintains Network Services budget and technology improvement plan. Responsible for submitting district technology status and budgetary requirements to the Senior Director of IS. Works closely with vendors to secure fair pricing, best practices, procedures, and maintenance contracts. Responsible for establishing, promoting, and maintaining a positive working relationship with internal and external customers. Provides district with daily status to include any concerns, problems, alerts, tracking, notification, escalation, and resolution. Responsible for the development, implementation, and testing of backups and network disaster recovery. To include, plan effectiveness, contingency plans, and documentation of network and critical systems. Ensures procedures and processes are in place for accurate problem reporting and assistance to customer and support personnel for effective troubleshooting and problem resolution. Automate job functions/ procedures by implementing or using sophisticated software tools. Oversees the management of staff and student accounts, including name changes, new users, password resets, and cleanup. Ensures the integrity and uniqueness of district accounts for resource access. Looks for innovative ways to improve system integration for data sharing. Responsible for hiring and the professional development of Network Services? personnel. Responsible for implementation of knowledge management practices within the department including cross-training, capacity building, and documentation. Responsible for oversight of all network technology projects, timelines, deployments, and communications projects within the district. Responsible for the development, implementation, and testing of the District Help Desk System. Oversees the management of staff and that staff maintain accurate problem reporting and assistance to all customers and support personnel for effective troubleshooting and problem resolution. Work with other departments within the Information Division, such as Student Information Systems and Web Technologies, to ensure consistent and reliable server and network service, as well as full support for related systems within Network Services. Perform related duty assignments as assigned.
