Online Assistant Academic Program Director (OAAPD)

The Online Assistant Academic Program Director (OAAPD) is responsible for student success and persistence, curriculum and course implementation, and online faculty performance and retention within a group of courses or particular program. Working closely with and under the supervision of the Online Academic Program Director for the Interior Design program, the OAAPD helps manage the performance of online faculty, assures online classroom quality, assures curriculum integrity, monitors online classrooms, and resolves students? academic problems and complaints for the Residential Planning program. The OAAPD works to ensure the academic policies and standards of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (AIP) are implemented in accordance with the institution?s accreditation guidelines. The OAAPD provides program specific consultation, training, and collaboration with the functional areas of EDMC Online Higher Education. The OAAPD works collaboratively with AIP?s Department Directors/Chairs.

 

Online Assistant Academic Program Directors are full-time AIP faculty members with administrative appointments to The Art Institute Online, reporting to the Online Academic Program Director for the Interior Design program and the EDMC Online Higher Education Vice President of Educational Services.

 

KEY JOB ELEMENTS

1.  Manages and leads online faculty within a group of courses or particular program

2.  Monitors and spot-checks active courses for quality assurance

3.  Participates in the faculty evaluation process within a group of courses or particular program

4.  Provides subject/program consultation, training, and support within EDMC Online Higher Education Educational Services and other functional areas

5.  Collaborates in the curriculum development process for online programs and courses

6.  Investigates and resolves student problems with appropriate Online Higher Education Educational Services staff, staff, and AIP Academic Affairs leadership (as applicable)

7.  Other responsibilities as determined by the EDMC Online Higher Education Vice President of Educational Services 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

?  Masters degree in Interior Design or closely related area. A terminal degree is preferred.

?  Three or more years of industry-related experience in Interior Design and/or Residential Planning

?  Prior experience in teaching and/or evaluating online courses

?  Technologically independent and able to work as part of a virtual team

?  Previous personnel management experience, preferably in education

?  Excellent oral and written communication skills

?  Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently

?  Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with academic as well as business and regulatory personnel

?  Strong preference given to the position based in Pittsburgh, PA, with consideration given for exceptional remote candidates
