Program Aide (Direct Care Staff)

Perkins School for the Blind was the first school for the blind chartered in 1829. For 175 years the staff at Perkins has been providing quality services to students from birth to 22 years of age who are multiply impaired, blind, visually impaired and Deafblind. All of our programs strive to enable each student to develop his or her greatest potential and maximum independence.

Program Aides are assigned to work with students in a residential or classroom setting. They teach independent living, social, direct care and pre-vocational skills to our students along with teachers and support staff.

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be willing to complete on-site First Aid/CPR certification and CPPI training. Applicants with prior experience working with multiply impaired or blind students preferred.

We have part-time and full-time positions available with work schedules of Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday 7:00AM-3:00PM and 2:00PM-10:00PM. Most full-time available work schedules are 2:00PM-10:00PM or a split shift of 3 days and 2 nights or 2 days and 3 nights our part-time shifts are primarily on the weekends.
