POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Program Director is responsible for the success and growth of our business in the Dallas Area, as well as managing all aspects of running a small business. The Director manages and leads a team of Tutors in building StudySmart?s brand name in the Dallas area. The Program Director is responsible for developing new clients and referral sources, as well as marketing StudySmart products and services and building current client loyalty. The Program Director also oversees management of all StudySmart employees and programs offered in the Dallas Market, including standardized test preparation, academic subject tutoring and study skills tutoring.
In addition to conducting customer calls and sales, the Program Director recruits, hires, trains and evaluates tutors, and other staff as needed.
EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS degree required
- 2 to 4 years? post-college experience in a professional business setting
- Demonstrated ability in sales and customer service
- Interest in marketing, business development and human resources management
- Previous experience in the for-profit education industry is a plus, but not absolutely required (SCORE!, Kaplan, Sylvan and The Princeton Review)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct incoming sales phone calls on a daily basis; involves speaking to new clients who are calling to get more information about programs, and making recommendations for their child?s academic success.
- Initiate outgoing calls to enroll prospective leads on a daily basis. This includes scheduling and conducting normal daily lead follow-up and participation in promotional call drives to old leads/clients.
- Conduct daily check-in calls with families and tutors to monitor customer satisfaction and student progress, solicit feedback, and initiate conflict resolution when appropriate.
- Resolve all conflict situations arising involving clients and tutors in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Develop and implement marketing and sales plans to expand your market through consistent and proactive customer service, professional networking and business development activities.
- Plan, schedule and lead public presentations, seminars and events for prospective clients and referral sources, including local schools and community organizations; activities can/should include parent seminars, school/college fairs, school parent nights, chamber of commerce events, etc.
- Plan, schedule and conduct one-on-one or small group meetings with prospective referral sources, including school administrators, teachers, counselors, learning specialists, school psychologists and educational consultants; maintain relationships through consistent follow-up via telephone, e-mail and in-person meetings.
- Manages part-time tutoring staff of varying size (depending on client need, 50-100 tutors) on a daily basis; includes regular contact via telephone, email and occasional in-office meetings, as well as enforcing discipline rules and Company standards.
- Manages the tutor recruiting process, which includes sourcing applicants, conducting paper and phone screens, scheduling and leading in-person interviews, and completing background and reference checks.
- Manage tutor assignment process, which entails choosing the most appropriate tutor match for each family, and providing the necessary contact information to the family in a timely fashion.
- Lead training sessions for Tutors to ensure proper utilization of curricula and compliance with Company standards; includes public speaking, teaching and giving presentations to groups of 30 or more individuals at a time.
- Manage all financial aspects of the Dallas office on a regular basis, including revenue, refunds, employee payroll, A/R, profit and loss analysis, and Company budgetary and expense management.
- The position requires more than a standard forty (40) hour workweek, averaging 45-50 hours per week including some evenings and weekends. Work independently and in some cases, report to remote supervisor(s).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- High-energy, outgoing, extroverted personality, especially charismatic on the phone.
- Comfortable with philosophy and methodology of high-end educational sales process; specifically, conducting phone-based and in-person sales.
- Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced, change oriented business environment on a daily basis.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to be proactive, take risks and put oneself ?out there? (stepping outside of your comfort zone) with respect to sales, marketing, management and business development.
- Entrepreneurial spirit & high interest in learning how a for-profit education company works.
- Previous retail, restaurant, for-profit business, or tutoring/teaching experience is a plus.
- High comfort level with delegating assignments and job responsibilities to other employees when necessary and appropriate.
- Aptitude and interest in professional growth, and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
- Willingness to contribute on other tasks and fulfill additional job functions as needed ? in a small business like ours, it is essential that everyone pitch in, when necessary.
