The Project Manager is a member of the Institute on Assets and Social Policy (IASP) team and is responsible for directing and managing IASP's work with the War on Poverty Initiative (WPI), launched in partnership with the Florida Minority Community Reinvestment Coalition. This multi-year project targets economic revitalization in ten Florida minority communities. WPI will assist minority organizations to develop a multifaceted approach to reducing poverty and building individual and community assets through: workforce/economic development, homeownership/small business development, financial literacy education, organizational capacity building to sustain a for-profit model, and targeted public policy advocacy. The IASP will provide consultation in the areas of community assessment, financial literacy training of trainers, cluster analysis for strategic economic development, and leadership development. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the work of IASP expert consultants with that of the partners in Florida; working with Florida partners to engage the support of local leaders; designing and implementing the needs and capacity assessment in ten target communities; conducting the process and outcome evaluation as the project progresses; and producing final written reports and case studies. Requirements for the position include a Master's degree with at least 3 years experience in community organizing, project management and evaluation related to the fields of asset, community, economic and/or workforce development. The person must also have the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment with diverse groups, set priorities and attend to details, and be flexible to adapt to changing program needs. The Project Manager will work out of the IASP's offices at Brandeis, with occasional travel to Florida. He/she will report to the director of IASP and supervise Research Assistant(s).
