Psychometrician

 

Vantage Learning is the leading provider of online assessments and essay scoring services to the K-12 market.  As a result of growth we are seeking a Psychometrician to work in our corporate office in Newtown, Pa.

 

The Psychometrician is a member of the Psychometric Services Group within the Assessment and Content Services Department.  This position is responsible for the implementation of psychometric analyses for a variety of testing programs as well as the execution of research studies.  The Psychometrician reports to the Director of Assessment and Content Services.

 

The Psychometrician position demands a strong command of statistics and effective communication through various media.  The Psychometrician must be able to work alongside others with a range of psychometric understanding.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 Implement a variety of psychometric services including but not limited to: job analyses, item analyses, item calibrations, test scaling, and test equating. Implement a variety of research studies in support of customer and internal R&D initiatives. Provide psychometric and test development consultation to customers and internal staff. Assist in the development of proposals. Create research reports for dissemination. Participate in the professional community through conference presentations and professional publications.  Assist in the verification of online and paper score report accuracy for a variety of testing programs. Assist in the project planning for projects involving research or analysis. Perform all projects on time and within budget.

 

Qualifications Include:

 PhD in Psychometrics, Statistics, Educational Psychology or related field requiredMinimum of 2 years of experience in the testing industry performing duties similar to those required for this position. Expert knowledge of classical and item response theory.  Generalizability theory knowledge is a plus. Advanced experience with statistical software packages including but not limited to SPSS and BILOG. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Excellent project management skills. Experience in designing, conducting, and publishing independent research. Excellent analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Advanced level use of Microsoft Office.
