The ESCONDIDO UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT is hiring for the position of School Clerk/Clerk Typist II ? Bilingual (Spanish)
TYPICAL DUTIES
SCHOOL CLERK ? Bilingual Acts as a receptionist in schools; compiles or assists in compiling attendance or other records and reports; enrolls or assists in enrolling students, processing transfers, preparing records. Assists in preparing and recording student and school schedules; maintains student health records. Prepares and distributes data processing grade and enrollment forms; processes student schedule changes. Typewrites or enters into computer from oral directions, rough draft copy, or notes a wide variety of material including letters, records, tests, reports, memoranda, bulletins, tables, lists, requisitions, and other materials; cuts stencils and duplicates materials; proofreads finished copy. Gives routine information regarding school or office matters over the counter and by telephone; assists students, teachers, and parents in locating materials or resolving minor problems; may assist in the recording of budget expenditures; may act for the school secretary in the latter?s absence in routine matters as assigned. Sorts and files documents and records according to predetermined classifications; maintains alphabetical, index, and cross reference files; receives, sorts, and distributes mail; receives, unpacks, and processes incoming materials; collects money and keeps records on monies collected; operates adding machine, mimeograph, duplicating, audio-visual, and related office machinery; gives minor first aid or medication, does pediculosis checks, maintains student health records; supervises student aides. Enters into computer student data and information, types copies and collates forms and reports required by Federal Grant Programs. Projects enrollment to assist principal in determining staffing needs. Establishes and maintains the free and reduced lunch program. Bilingual positions perform same duties, but communicate in both English and Spanish.
CLERK TYPIST II ? Bilingual Duties are similar to the above but at the District Office. Bilingual positions perform same duties, but communicate in both English and Spanish.
EMPLOYMENT CALENDAR - Months per year will vary depending on site vacancies; positions vary from 2-8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
FILING DEADLINE - Applications are accepted on a continuous basis at the District Office located at 1330 E. Grand Ave., Escondido, CA. The District Office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays ? Fridays, excluding District holidays.

CLERK TYPIST (BILINGUAL) - 12.09 (Step 1) 12.70 (Step 2) 13.33 (Step 3) 14.00 (Step 4) 14.70 (Step 5) 15.44 (Step 6)
NEW EMPLOYEES START AT STEP 1, 2, OR 3 DEPENDING UPON THE RELATEDNESS AND LENGTH OF VERIFIED PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS.
TYPICAL BACKGROUND
SCHOOL CLERK - Two years of general clerical experience, or one year of clerical experience in a school office. Education equivalent to graduation from high school.
CLERK TYPIST II - Six months of general clerical experience, or one year of business office education above the high school level.
BOTH positions require a typing certificate for 45 net words per minute dated within the last 12 months. Typing certificate must be submitted prior to being certified for an interview.
Candidates must be proficient in both Spanish and English at a basic level.
