SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

 

The Kingsley School for Child Development is a small, innovative pre-school in downtown Brooklyn/Metrotech area serving children two to five years of age with emotional and behavioral problems, learning disabilities, and/or speech delays.

 

We have an anticipated September 2006 opening for a full-time or part-time L.M.S.W or L.C.S.W with NYS certification.  

 

The job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

 Performing parent interviews to obtain pertinent family/social history for intakes and annual reviews;Acting as Service coordinator for assigned children who participate in the Early Intervention Program;Writing of periodic reports and the documentation of contacts with parents, medical providers, and agencies as well as the completion of other required documentation by the Early Intervention Program (EIP) and the Committee on Pre-school Special Education (CPSE) or other relevant agencies;Collaborating with the teaching and clinical staff concerning assigned children?s educational and therapeutic needs;Scheduling periodic parent-child sessions with therapists to fulfil ?Families as Partners?/EIP requirements; Serving as liaison between the school, parents, and medical providers as well as other relevant agencies to address children?s/family?s/school?s specific needs and concerns.  Attending weekly interdisciplinary team meetings; and Ensuring ongoing communication with parents to ensure application of recommended behavioral strategies in the home and follow-up of pertinent issues concerning the children?s educational, therapeutic, and family-related needs.
