Senior E-Learning Development Specialist

Our Human Resources Department is seeking a Senior Elearning Development Specialist in Columbus, OH. This individual will work extensively with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to see technology based training development projects from inception through completion. The position requires considerable knowledge and skills in adult learning styles, verbal and written communication, applying the six phases of the ISD model to technology based training solutions, the use of web authoring tools, and applying Kirkpatrick's four levels of evaluation. This individual will also customize third party training products, write training content, perform graphic design, analyze data, manage projects and work on a variety of training-related activities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Understands Battelle's industry, its internal and external strategies, financial resources, organizational and functional structure, processes that drive business, and how each section of the business interrelates with others
2. Uses the ISD model to plan, assess, design, develop, author/program, implement, and evaluate highly interactive and engaging blended or multi-media learning activities that align with corporate values and desired competencies to support identified business needs
3. Assesses and modifies existing training programs to meet instructional design standards, competency requirements, and provide reliable measurement of learning objectives' achievement; creating technology-based versions of classroom training Takes traditionally developed course materials and works collaboratively to create a technology-based version that meets the determined performance objectives
4. Identifies and interacts with subject matter experts and other resources in order to perform front-end analysis comparing actual and ideal performance levels in the workplace; formulates actionable and measurable performance objectives upon which to base training development
5. Creates design documents showing the performance objectives, suggested sequence and presentation of course content, timeframes and customer touch points; secures buy in and approval from training sponsor, Training Manager and team.
6. Performs research, interviews and interacts with various levels of staff, management and highly skilled subject matter experts to secure factual information to be used in training content development.
7. Takes technical information gleaned from research and interviews, writes training outline and content in a logical learning sequence at an appropriate level for the target audience; secures sponsor approvals at specified intervals; creates storyboards from training content
8. Decides what combination of instructional methods, presentation methods, and distribution methods will best deliver the final program to the learner. Outlines and creates instructional materials for desired media.
9. Designs and develops overall architecture, layout, navigability, user-interface, functionality and usability for computer applications or web pages that deliver training
10. Creates electronic artwork and graphic elements for use in interactive training products
11. Takes storyboards and uses software authoring tools and/or programming skills to create e-based learning products from them
12. Creates, launches and troubleshoots online learning products that are fully integrated with Peoplesoft's Enterprise Learning Management System; works effectively with Battelle's information management (IM) staff
13. Measures the success of learning interventions by applying Kirkpatrick's 4 levels of evaluation
14. Designs, creates, and administers valid data collection instruments for a variety of learner assessments, uses statistics to measure and analyze results Design and create multi-level evaluations and other learner assessments, use statistics to measure and analyze results in order to determine success, utilize participant feedback and revise instructional materials as necessary
15. Collaborates and builds effective interpersonal relationships with teammates, SMEs, internal clients, management and students in order to produce meaningful outcomes; Works equally effectively as an individual contributor or as part of a training team.
16. project management/details/budget and schedule/sme mgmt: accurate records Balance the project requirements within budget and schedule
17. Understands trends within the training and e-learning industries; maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their practical applications
18. Researches vendor products to meet organizational needs; prepares formal and informal RFPs; negotiates terms for maximum value; monitors and evaluates vendor performance.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Candidate resumes must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration:
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field (or equivalent experience). Requires a minimum of five years experience in assessing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating instruction for adult learners; multi-media instructional design, e-learning development. Experience with e-learning development software (Flash, Lectora, Captivate, Dreamweaver Coursebuilder, ToolBook, Authorware). Experience with SCORM and AICC standards, and creating content for integration with learning management systems (LMS) or directly into an existing database. Exceptional writing skills with experience writing original content required. Project management experience with ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines necessary.
