Sr. Instructional Design Consultant-HPI

The Senior Instructional Design Consultant is responsible for managing the design, building and testing learning and information management solutions for all levels of sales & marketing staffs in all Regions to improve sales performance. Under the direction of the Health Plan Institutes Director, this position serves as senior consultant, designer, developer/programmer and evaluator to Health Plan Institute (HPI) Learning Consultants and sales & marketing staffs, of classroom and web-based learning products, and information management applications on the National Sales & Marketing Intranet.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consults with Sales Managers, functional and business line leaders, management and staff, and HPI Learning Consultants to develop, implement instructional strategies and performance support systems appropriate for learning objectives, content, and delivery systems.

Identifies, develops and implements the strategic and tactical development of learning curricula and performance support applications for HPI and @HPI. This includes prioritizing HPIs curriculum and information management systems needs and the orderly pursuit and completion of plans that execute on these identified needs.

Manages and executes the orderly production of curriculum materials, to include writing, editing and designing instructional/educational sequences and activities in conjunction with subject matter experts (SMEs) and our curriculum. Apply project management methodology to the instructional design process, including assessment, job analysis, course design and development.

Consults with customers to present alternate solutions that support customer business requirements. Directs the analysis and definition of efficient, cost-effective e-learning and web-based performance support solutions. Manages and executes the orderly production of e-learning and other web-based or delivered performance support content including writing, editing, content layout, information architecture, non-linear navigation, programming, and testing in the production environment.

Recommends new instructional formats and technologies to Manager and HPI team. Recommends, develops and delivers and markets new performance support technologies to Manager and HPI team.

Training / Knowledge Transfer - provides training, guidance, assistance and knowledge transfer among team members on e-learning and instructional design. Prepares and conducts presentations of various work tools, processes, and procedures. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies and recommending training on new or enhanced technologies.

Less than 15% travel required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Must have strong listening and presentation skills, including the ability to manage design critiques and explain visual design concepts to non-designers.

Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems and meet aggressive deadlines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Information Science, or related field required or equivalent experience. Masters degree preferred.

7+ years experience in managing the development of learning projects, including instructional design, course development, project management, and in using computer-based tools in the development and delivery of learning and knowledge management projects. Experience to include 2 years of supervisory experience in consulting, project management and coaching.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), email (Lotus Notes) and Dreamweaver or equivalent rapid development of program.
