Teacher II

Stars Community Services is lookint for a Teacher for its San Leandro facility.  Stars Community Services work with children, adolescents, and young adults in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, who are seriously emotionally disturbed, helping them succeed in their family or community living environments.  The Teacherprovides a therapeutic educational environment focusing on the specific objectives outlined in the I.E.P. and meets all school district curriculum guidelines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE (minimum

Bachelor's degree required; BA  in Education, preferred.

Post Graduate study in Special Education, preferred. Six (6) months experience with mentally ill adolescents in a teaching capacity or other equivalent child care experience preferred.  California Preliminary Teaching Credential (Intern) or Emergency Credential in Special Education required. NOTE: Also required: Passing scores on the CBEST or similar test required for Special Education Programs; current enrollment in approved special education teacher credential program and completion

of 6 semester units (or equivalent) required as specified on the individual credential. Valid California Driver's License, required.  Valid California Class "B" Driver's License, preferred. Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents, other staff, physicians and the public.
