Training & Development Manager

Three - Five years Healthcare experience is preferred and a familiarity with JCAHO is preferred.

Reports to the Vice President, Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

Direct the activities of hospital wide educational services. Formulate hospital wide educational/training policies and practices. Plan and direct implementation of interdepartmental educational/training programs.

Advise vice-president on staff educational issues. Recommend priorities of educational/training program development. Analyze educational trends and requests for educational services and recommend long-range educational goals and objectives.

Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness of results. Assist in preparation of data for JCAHO and DPH accreditation reviews.

Implement a management development program as well as identify individual department educational/training needs. Familiarity with Achieve Global Leadership Development Programs a plus.

Assist individual departments in curriculum development and organization of inservice and on-the-job training programs.

Screen and disseminate educational/training information to departments.

Develop and direct the New Employee Orientation Process, and new Manager Training Programs, assess Orientation effectiveness, recommend and implement changes. Assist managers in developing modules related to their specific departmental needs.

Work closely with the service culture initiative team to implement a hospital wide CEO led service culture initiative.

Promote educational programs through Intranet, fliers, brochures, calendars, etc. Develop courses and teach or co-train in specific subjects. Evaluate trends in adult education and training needs implementing changes to continually improve the services provided. Work with Hospital management to improve teamwork and interdepartmental work processes.

Evaluate curriculum, type of format and audience for each training program. Review and select outside trainers, course materials, audiovisual aids and exercises for such programs, assess the capabilities of internal or external trainers to conduct programs. Recruit hospital staff with specific expertise to conduct training sessions.
