Control System Electronic Service Technician

Kelly Engineering Resources is seeking qualified personnel to fill a role as a contingent staff resource as a Control System Electronic Service Technician with a large chemical manufacturing facility located in Midland, Michigan.

Desirable attributes of the potential candidate should include a thorough understanding of basic electronics circuit fundamentals and electronic troubleshooting techniques. Applicants with process control computer systems hardware service and maintenance knowledge and or experience should apply for this job. All levels of education and experience are being considered, including experienced applicants and new college graduates.

Applicants with formal training and/or applicatable experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (i.e. Allen Bradley) or Distributed Control Systems, (i.e. ABB, Fisher-Provox, Honeywell, etc.) and with knowledge of specific technologies; networks, instrumentation, and basic electronic troubleshooting skills for computer systems are highly desired.

Scope of Work Assignment
Full time work in a Midland Michigan Chemical Manufacturing facility as part of a centralized highly specialized service / maintenance group responsible for process control computer systems and their associated networks. The work assignment is for continuous contract employment.
The Control System Electronic Service Technician will be assigned to a work team made up of company and contingent personnel. The successful candidate will be assigned to preventative maintenance work until familiarization of the system can be learned. Once specific systems knowledge is gained and service / troubleshooting techniques are demonstrated the successful candidate will be provided increased job responsibilities.

The successful applicant will be provided training/mentoring to achieve desired target skill efficiency.

Scope of Deliverables
Project deliverables for the successful applicant filling the role as a Control System Electronic Service Technician are as follows:
Work as part of an integrated team to support service and maintenance of a large chemical manufacturing site.
Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on the control system hardware systems following predefined procedures and work processes (i.e. cleaning systems, tightening screws & bolts, checking connections on cables and circuit boards, testing batteries, fans, lights, etc.)
Work as part of a team environment to install and commission new control systems and sub assemblies.
Work as part of a team environment to maintain and support the operation of a maintenance shop for the purpose of control system maintenance and repair. This includes maintaining and repairing electronic sub systems in a shop environment for implementation into operating facilities. Provide inventory and procurement of small parts to maintain spare parts inventory for maintenance function.
Trouble shoot and repair reported problems in the control system hardware and software and associated networks.

Attributes of Potential Candidates (Resume)

Potential candidates should submit a work history for the past 10 years and evidence of post high school education. Two year associates degree in Electronics is preferred.

Candidate Selection Process
The following education and/or experience will be considered as part of the criteria for candidate selection.

Education: Two year associate degree or higher desirable.

Work Experience: Relative experience as an electronics technician and the use of standard tools and equipment used in electronic systems troubleshooting and/or knowledge of industrial control computers and associated hardware (i.e. PLC Systems, Distributed Control Systems)

Knowledge and or experience in the direct application of SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) hardware and computer installations desirable.

Knowledge of process instrumentation (i.e. Pressure, Temperature, and Flow Transmitters) used in the chemical manufacturing industry is desirable.

Proficient in standard workstation tools; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Microsoft Outlook
