POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Assembly Technician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt



Department: Operations Reports To: General Shop Supervisor





General Summary


Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are somewhat complicated in nature.



Essential Job Functions

Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings, diagrams or samples.
Operates hand tools, power tools, or production equipment.
Performs tasks associated with test and repair of equipment including disassembling and reassembling components after repairing or replacing parts.
Generates relevant documentation including assembly drawings, parts lists, etc.
Inspects equipment and evaluates performance.
Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.





Physical Requirements
Occasional (up to 25% of time on job): Standing, Lifting (max. 75 lbs.), Climbing Stairs, Stooping, Reaching, Repeated Bending
Frequently (25 ? 75% of time on the job): Repetitive Finger Movements, Near Vision, Sitting



Working Conditions


Manufacturing environment, where the surroundings are relatively quiet, comfortable, and well lighted.



 

Job Requirements



Education
Required: H.S. Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Technical degree in electronics field



Experience

Required: Three years experience with soldering and electronic assembly, Dept. of Defense or NASA Certified preferred.
Preferred: Experience with military or other Hi Reliability assemblies



Knowledge/Abilities


Required: High density surface mount and through-hole soldering and PCB Rework
Ability to read schematics and assembly drawings
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing demands
Use and be familiar with assembly and measuring tools
Computer skills
Preferred: DOD or NASA certification
