 Position:  Director of Mechanical Engineering and Product Design

 

Position Description:

Director-level position for a start-up developing the next generation microdisplay rear projection television technology.  These products involve tight integration of electronics, optical, and mechanical systems and, thus, this job requires the ability to manage a product design team in an interdisciplinary environment.  Good communication skills are a must.

 

Required Education and Skills:

The ideal candidate would have a M.S. in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 10 or more years experience in the following areas:



 Consumer electronics product design experience.  Experience managing design teams, both direct and off-shore, and a proven track record in schedule and budget performance.

 Experience in bringing new products into production through contract manufacturing resources and experience in cost-reduction of existing products.



 Expert level experience in designing, documenting, and manufacturing high volume mechanical components of complex consumer products.

 Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal stamping

 Experience managing consulting resources in industrial design and engineering.

 Working experience with quality control procedures including ISO 9000.

 3-D solid modeling experience in Pro-Engineer, Solidworks, or other 3-D solids engineering modeling packages.
