ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN

RATE OF PAY: Range 41 ($3,577.76 - $4,381.06 month)
WORK SCHEDULE: 8 hrs./day, 12 mos./yr.
TYPICAL TASKS: Essential Functions: Under general supervision, to perform skilled activities related to the maintenance and repair of variety of electronic equipment; and to do related work as required. Repairs, installs, services, and maintains electronic equipment, including, fire alarm systems, intrusion alarm systems, amplifiers, microphones, public address systems, multi-speaker sound systems, clocks and signal systems; repairs parts and equipment as needed; reads schematics, using volt meters, scope tests diodes, transistors, coils, transformers, and other component parts; requisitions and maintains electronic supplies and repair parts.
Marginal Functions: Assists in general electrical maintenance activities as required; performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment; knowledge of the NFPA codes related to fire alarm systems, National Electric Code, Electrical Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety, and local electrical codes and ordinances; Understand the operation of Microsoft Windows operating system and software; ability to interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and blueprints; ability to diagnose defects in electronic equipment operation and to do skilled shop work in the repair, installation, service, and maintenance of such equipment; ability to use and care for electronic tools; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to work cooperatively with others.
Licenses Required: A valid California motor vehicle operator?s license.
Working Conditions: Physical Conditions: Field/shop environment; exposure to machinery and electrical wiring; work in confined spaces. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, bending, stooping or kneeling for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles.
Selection Procedure: The selection process may consist of any or all of the following: training and experience evaluation, written examination, performance test, technical oral interview and general qualifications appraisal interview.
