POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electronics Engineer and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.Assembles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.Analyzes and interprets test data.Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Technical Associates degree plus four years directly related work experience or equivalent technical education and experience combination.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Requires the ability to read and write professionally in English.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Requires the ability to read Engineering drawings, Computer generated drawings, schematics, and sketches.  In depth electronics knowledge.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Thorough working knowledge of Analog and Microprocessor theory.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Proof of training in this area.

Performance of ocean testing on our test boat. 

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

Building and troubleshooting electronic circuits to the component level and test fixtures.

Work will be performed in a variety of locations in-house as well as off-site.  These include office and laboratory environments, machine shop, potting room, and off-site testing sites such as lakes, harbors, rivers and open ocean.  These are a description of areas where work will be performed but is not an all-inclusive list.

 

The work environment will range from a comfortable indoor environment to that of an outdoor environment where the temperature and weather will vary.
