Fabricator / Shop Technician - NJ

The Fabricator / Shop Technician's primary responsibility is to assemble and wire the equipment racks and/or peripheral equipment that comprise the heart of an audio-visual system, using engineered A/V flow, control and elevation drawings.  This requires the following of proper procedures and standards for rack wiring, connectorizing, and equipment configuration.  The Fabricator / Shop Technician will be required to bring and use their own set of standard hand tools, but will be supplied with any specialized tools or equipment necessary for rack fabrication.  Occasionally, the job holder may do metalwork, such as fashioning mounting brackets or lacing bars for inclusion in the racks, and also may by asked to assist technicians in the field doing installation, mounting or assembly work.  In addition the job holder is to document any details or changes done during fabrication on the system as-built drawings, which will be included in the final documentation of the system.  Other duties may include assisting Engineering or Quality Control with system testing.

 

Primary Duties:

- Assemble AV system racks using engineered drawings

- Follow proper procedures, standards & practices

- Report to Shop Manager on daily progress

- Keep track of all equipment manuals, remotes and accessories

- Complete work assigned  buy Shop Manager on schedule

- Update system as-builts during fabrication

 

Backup or Shared Duties:

- Assist technicians in the field with installation or assembly

- Assist QC with system staging and testing

- Shop & Office maintenance/moving/light construction

 

Required Skills:

- Ability to read System AV flow diagrams and Architecturals

- Ability to solder, and use regular as well as specialized AV  tools

- Ability to lift 50 lbs.

- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements

- Neat, professional appearance and demeanor
