Career: Wireless Field Technician

Job Description:

Applicant will become familiar with all aspects of day to day field operations of a cellular system and basic understanding of its switching systems.  Position will work to install the highest quality wireless network.

Essential Functions:

 Responsibilities include but not limited to:

? Installation and testing of cell site equipment, preventative maintenance, antenna and feed line testing, T-1 testing, coverage and handoff testing, 911 compliance testing, and cell site acceptance.  Responsible for installing all power equipment (batteries, rectifiers, etc.)

? Configure and test multiple wireless base stations and facilities (indoor and outdoor configurations) within assigned geographic area;

? Operate and maintain test equipment, and diagnose and repair base station failures in a timely manner as per accepted standards. Perform base station equipment installations and operational acceptance testing. 

? Assist in cell site growth by adding/ removing voice channel, testing new T1 installations, installing growth equipment as needed and supporting new cell turn-ups.

 Completes related administrative duties including:

? Inventory control, shipping and receiving spare parts and processing trouble tickets.

? Interact with outside contractors, site owners and landlords.

? Accepts on-call responsibility to respond to service interruptions. Be available for evening, weekends and rotational assignments. 

? Attends vendor and in-house training and participates in certification programs as necessary.

Job Qualifications:

? Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle
? Must be willing to travel 75% of time;  work will be in Northeast US, but overnight stays usually required
? Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
? Demonstrated safe driving record required
? Ability to work independently under limited supervision
? Good communication and interpersonal skills
? Organized with a strong attention to detail

Education & Experience:

? 1+ year(s) general construction, electrical, technical, or mechanical experience preferred
? Technical School degree preferred

? Ericsson GSM/UMTS experience preferred
