Process Technician – Level 2

Job Overview:It is the primary responsibility of the Process Technician to ensure all processes are set-up, operating and monitored as required by the requirements set forth by the manufacturing Engineer, Site Engineering Manager, and Corporate Engineering. The Process Technician will report to the Focused Factory Manufacturing Engineer and will also be guided by the Site Engineering Manager and Corporate Engineering Groups through the Manufacturing Engineer. Job Responsibilities:? Must be performing a minimum of three expectations for each Process listed below, and fulfill all requirements for three or more of the first seven Core Processes listed

? Train operators on three or more processes within the factory.

? Act as a source of information for level 1 technicians and associates.

? Understand Design for Manufacturability and DFM reviews.

? Take a proactive approach to problem solving.

? Troubleshoot to the root cause level of a problem with quality and efficiency and in some cases participate in implementing a solution.

? Willing to do what is necessary to make sure team (cell, focus factory) goals are met. Takes a professional approach and willing to do what is necessary to meet goals and deadlines. (ex. You are not just a Process Technician but are a part of a manufacturing team)

? Research problems and demonstrate a strong focus on getting problems corrected.

? Visit customer sites to learn, interface with customers on a technical level, and represent Plexus in a positive light.

? Additional duties as assigned.

Core Processes:

1.) Printing Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). Add tooling needs to machine setup sheets. ? Create Pre-Control chart (Per Data Collection Plan Instructions). ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies. ? Create Assembly-Specific Instructions. ? Create Solder paste Location Reference Picture (Per Data Collection Plan Instructions).

2.) PNP Process ? Check management data. ? Verify part database is correct. ? X-Y- table test / adjustment of fudicials. ? Bypass parts and change feeder type. ? Verify and change programs. 3.) Ovens Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Create Pre-Control Chart (Per QI Analyst Instructions). ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies. ? Create Assembly-Specific Instructions. ? Establish thermal profile (Per Datalogger and Data Collection Plan Instructions). ? Create Thermocouple Location Reference picture (Per Data Collection Plan Instructions). ? Create new recipe (Per Oven Technical Instructions).

4.) Wave Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Create Pre-Control Chart (Per QI Analyst Instructions). ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies. ? Create Assembly-Specific Instructions. ? Establish Thermal Profile. ? Create new recipe.



5.) Wash Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Create Assembly-Specific Wash Instructions. ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies. 6.) Test Process ? Work with TE group, TGI, and the customer in designing conceptualizing, defining function, and selecting materials for all new tooling and fixture requirements for board handling. ? Gather, understand, interpret, and address discrepancies of the following test data: (histograms/parametric data, test, and technician yield data, Variable/Attribute Data, test equipment utilization). ? Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot general ICT and functional fallout if necessary with accuracy and efficiency. ? Able to operate all test stations in Focus Factory. ? Has working knowledge of all data collection stations for the test area (RELM, Data collection programs), as well as shipping verification requirements. ? Develop test instructions that not only take into account a regimented procedure, but also have proactive insight into safety issues, preventative maintenance, and efficient operations. ? Be able to perform maintenance of test fixtures (repinning, cleaning, maintaining fixture hardware, etc.). ? Basic understanding of ICT systems configuration within the factory and how this pertains to the assemblies tested in the factory. Oversees that the test process is running smoothly by making sure handling, coverage, and debug issues are addressed and/or unnecessary test steps are eliminated. 7.) Repair/ Rework Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Have a detailed understanding of the customers repair/ rework requirements and the IPC-R-700 repair procedures. ? Understand all equipment capabilities and methods used for rework/repair. ? Understand the thermal constraints of both the components and the printed wiring board. ? Create assembly specific repair instructions ? Be capable of performing maintenance and repair of repair/rework equipment.

Other Processes

1.) X-Ray Process ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Create Assembly-Specific Instructions. ? Power Up, Load and Shut down - oversee and perform operation. ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies.

2.) Conformal Coating ? Design, Conceptualize, Define Function and Select Materials for all New Tooling (Refer to Section 5.10). ? Create Assembly-Specific Instructions. ? Programming - oversees and performs operation. ? Assist in the setup of new Assemblies. ? Repair and trouble shoot coating machines and equipment. ? Oversee and perform maintenance on equipment.

3.) Tooling Process ? Procurement of tooling ? Design of tooling for Focus Factory. ? Conceptualize, define, and outline intended use of tooling. ? Present in a dimensioned, sketched format. ? Select materials. ? Fabrication of tooling. ? Request must be presented on approved form. ? Ensure written approval of final draft from factory management. ? Obtain all purchase orders for labor and materials. ? Setup of all tooling.

4.) Special Processes ? The PT shall support and monitor special or new processes not obtained in this document as required and documented by Engineering and Quality Engineering.

5.) Process Monitoring ? All Applicable Processes.

6.) Defect Analyses ? Review and investigate daily defects, take corrective action and document changes approved by the Manufacturing Engineer. ? Ensure operators are following proper customer specifications and report non-compliance personnel to the Manufacturing Engineer.

7.) Reports ? Assist the Manufacturing Engineer in the development of the monthly report.

8.) Projects The PT shall assist the Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial, and Quality Technicians in projects and experiments. Job Qualifications:

Experience:

Must meet requirements of a Level 2 Process Technician. The Manufacturing Engineer and the Factory Manager must test the knowledge to the level requirements.

Education:

A minimum of an Associates degree or military equivalent and 1 year electronics manufacturing experience is required. Additionally, the employee must successfully complete all internal courses offered by the company necessary to do the job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment with little or no supervision. Must possess excellent communication, organizational and troubleshooting skills. . Must have a focus on continuous improvement and show dedication to both the company and the customer. Computer literacy in Windows and DOS applications required. Employee must work safely at all times and maintain the confidentiality of all customer and company information.
